TOPICS

The acronym IMPLAST implies a convergence of the words Impact and Plasticity and papers dealing with any aspect of large deformation and failure of materials (including metals, composites, cellular, geomaterials or concrete) and structures resulting from quasi-static, earthquake, fire, impact or blast loading are welcome.

The following topics will be covered during the symposium.

The list is indicative and not exhaustive:

  • Mechanics of Impact, Penetration, and Perforation
  • High Speed Impact and Blast Problem
  • Behavior of Material at High Strain Rates
  • Theories of Plasticity, Damage, Fracture and Fatigue
  • Structural Crashworthiness and Failure Analysis
  • Structural Fire Engineering
  • Structures subjected to earthquake load
  • Stress Waves in Solids
  • Soil Structure Interaction, Geological Material Under Dynamic Load
  • Challenges in Fabrication and Manufacturing

Publication of manuscripts

Revised and expanded version of the submissions to IMPLAST 2025 will be considered for the publication in special issues of international journal of impact engineering, defense technology, ships & offshore structures and Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures.

Contributions to these journals would be based on the invitation

Message From chairman

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my pleasure to cordially invite you to participate in IMPLAST 2025, the 14th International Symposium on Plasticity and Impact Mechanics, being held at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. IIT Roorkee established as Thomason College of Civil Engineering in 1854 is the oldest engineering Institution of India. The IMPLAST series was initiated by Professor N. K. Gupta in 1973, and with the gap of three years, by now, nine of th these symposia have been held in India and four, the 7th, 9 , th 10th and 12 Symposia, were held in Melbourne in 2000, Bochum in 2007, Rhode Island in 2010 and Busan in 2019. The international scientific committee is being chaired by Prof. G. Lu in the current symposium while during the last three symposia the committee was chaired by Prof. Norman Jones.
